Waste water disposal is therefore an important aspect of operation of a galvanising plant. The process begins with one of the following appliances: a demineraliser or a reverse osmosis system. Mains water comes into contact with a special electrolyte solution (i.e. electrolytic bath) supported by mechanical filters. At this stage, Cu, Fe, Cr3+, Ni2+ and other ions are selectively removed from water. Regeneration of appliance columns allows to generate wastes that can be disposed of or re-used in galvanic processes. It also allows to create closed loops preventing heavy metals from electrolytic baths.
